Starting with the fall 2008
semester, there are some
changes in the design of
Schreiner University’s
Vocational Nursing
program. The 12-month
program will have three
semesters and will now be a
credit hour program.
The first semester gives
students the opportunity to
complete 15 credit hours,
after which they are
eligible to take the
certified nurse aide test.
At the end of the second
semester, students will have
earned another 17 credit
hours, at which time they
may choose to take the
medication aide test. The
third semester is also 15
credit hours, and students
are eligible to take the
State Board of Nursing exam
to become a Licensed
Vocational Nursing
successfully completing the
three semesters. An added
benefit is that after
passing each test the
student immediately
qualifies for greater
responsibility in their
health care jobs.
Schreiner University is now
accepting applications for
classes starting in January
and May 2009. The
application deadline for
January is October 15 and
for May, Feb. 15, 2009.
All accepted applicants
receive grants from
Schreiner and the
University’s
Office for Admission and
Financial Aid will help
students apply for state and
federal aid.
