Schreiner University
Campus Ministry will be
hosting monthly Taizé
Services on the first Sunday
of the month beginning this
Sunday, Oct. 5th, at 6
p.m. in the chapel
behind the Elaine B. Griffin
Welcome Center on the
Schreiner University Campus.
A simple meal will follow
the service. A love offering
will be received for the
meal and will go towards a
scholarship fund for
students travelling to Taizé
in May 2009.
Taizé services are
characterized by meditative
singing, scripture reading,
silence and prayer. They
come to us out of the Taizé
community in France, which
was formed in the mid-1940s
by Brother Roger of Taizé.
Currently, more than 100,000
people a year travel to
Taizé to experience a
pattern of living that is
ordered by worship three
times a day, Bible study and
service, with the invitation
that each person will take
the little piece of the
gospel they have understood
and live it in the world.
Other dates for the
Schreiner University Campus
Ministry services are
November 2 and
December 7. Services
will resume in February.
