LWVKA and Schreiner University Offer Forum on Issues Influencing Women Voters

The League of Women Voters Kerrville Area will join with Schreiner University’s Women's Issues Committee and Schreiner’s Panhellenic Council to offer a free public forum at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 23, in the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center ballroom on the Schreiner campus. The forum, “My Vote is My Voice Being Heard: Women's Issues in the 2008 Presidential Election,” will address topics related to women's issues in the 2008 presidential election.

The Panhellenic Council at Schreiner polled female students at the University regarding their interest in and concern about a list of 10 topics. The top four, which will be discussed at the forum, are Roe vs. Wade (choice), Iraq and withdrawal of troops, education and universal health care. Representatives of the Schreiner faculty will speak on each issue.

A representative of each party also will speak on their candidate’s position on the topic. The League of Women Voters will moderate the forum, and questions will be taken from audience members.

There will be an opportunity to register to vote before the program, from 5-7 p.m. outside the Gus Schreiner Dining Hall on the University campus.

For more information, contact The Rev. Gini Norris-Lane, Schreiner campus minister, at 830-792-7284 or vanorrislane@schreiner.edu.
