Schreiner
University will present
Great Conversations about
topics of current interest,
3:30-5:30 p.m.,
Friday, Sept. 12 in the
Floyd and Kathleen Cailloux
Campus Activity Center.
There are five conversations
that still have room for
participants.
“Obesity in America: What
Is the Problem?” will be
facilitated by Dr. Diana
Comuzzie, professor of
biology and dean of the
Trull School of Sciences and
Mathematics and Schreiner,
and Dr. Anthony Comuzzie, of
the department of genetics
at Southwest Foundation for
Biomedical Research, where
he focuses on obesity and
diabetes.
Elden Sheffer, Schreiner’s
director of church relations
will facilitate a discussion
on “Is a Candidate’s
Faith Something the Public
Should Know And/Or Care
About?” Sheffer is an
ordained Elder at First
Presbyterian Church in
Kerrville and a Presbyterian
commissioned lay pastor.
“Why Do Celebrities
Matter?” will be lead by
Dr. William Woods, professor
of English and
communications at Schreiner,
and Dean of the School of
Liberal Arts. Woods teaches
courses on popular culture
and is the coordinator of
Schreiner’s annual Pop
Culture Symposium.
Sara Schmidt, assistant
professor and special
collections librarian at
Schreiner, and Stephanie
Keller, assistant art
director of creative
services will moderate
“What Does It Mean to Go
Green?”
“Are Our Retirement
Accounts Safe?” will be
facilitated by Dr. Mark
Woodhull, assistant
professor of business at
Schreiner and a well-known
authority on international
affairs.
The size of the sessions is
limited and reservations are
required. As all the
conversations take place
during the same period of
time, participants can
