Join Monday Night Fiction for ‘Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant’
Schreiner University’s Monday Night Fiction series will discuss “Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant” by Anne Tyler at 7 p.m., March 9, in the Scarle-Philips Room in the William Logan Library on the Schreiner campus. Sally Hannay, English instructor at Schreiner, will be the discussion leader.
The book explores the lives of two brothers and a sister as they grow up with their mother after their father deserted the family. Among other things, it is a look at how family members can experience the same events differently. In 1983, “Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant” was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and the PEN/Faulkner Award. The author has said it is her best work.
This literary event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served. For more information on this or any other Schreiner University humanities event, contact Martha York at the Schreiner University Center for Innovative Learning 830-792-7352.
