Hill Country Art Survey winners announced
The winners of the 8th Annual Hill Country Art Survey for area high school students were announced Sunday, March 1, at a reception opening the exhibition of the students’ work. The competition and exhibition are sponsored and put on by Schreiner University.

Caitlyn Bagwell from Hutto High School won Best in Show and first place in the drawing category. Desirae Lockaby, Llano High School, and Emily Jennings, Bandera High School, were awarded second and third place in drawing, respectively.

In the photography category, Kelsey Phelps, Bandera High School, took first-place honors, with Kaitlin Young, Marion High School, second, and Angie Rushing, Georgetown High School, third.

Ryan Mosel, Marion High School, was awarded first place in digital manipulation, with Leonard Silva, Ingram High School, second, and Bob Scheel, Bandera High School, third.

More than 95 students from eight high schools entered 137 works of art in the competition, which was juried by Schreiner’s visual art faculty.

The students received monetary awards and the exhibition will be open until March 15 at the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center on the Schreiner campus.
