Marcus Rubio to perform at Schreiner Coffeehouse
Schreiner University’s Center for Innovative Learning and the Texas Heritage Music Foundation will present Marcus Rubio as part of the Texas Music Coffeehouse Series at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, at The Lion’s Den in the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center on the Schreiner campus. There also will be a Poetry Slam contest, in which participants will read from original work.

Marcus Rubio, a music composition major at Trinity University in San Antonio, is the leader of the Gospel of Pillows garage band. He recorded with his hero Joe Reyes at the age of 15 and has three CDs of his own.

“I first heard Marcus Rubio at a Tribute to Bob Dylan held last year at Casbeers in San Antonio,” said Dr. Kathleen Hudson, professor of English at Schreiner, and the founder and executive director of THMF. “He is a brilliant combination of Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan and his own magical reality.”
