Schreiner University’s annual Recall weekend gives alumni and former students an opportunity to come back to the campus from all over the state of Texas and the country, and catch up with changes, meet old friends and make new ones. This year’s theme is “The more things change, the more they stay the same.”

Sponsored by the Schreiner Former Students Association, this year’s Recall is particularly notable, as it marks the 25th anniversary of Schreiner’s first class to graduate with four-year baccalaureate degrees. The “silver grads” will be honored during the event, as will decade anniversary graduates, those who graduated in the years 1939, ’49, ’59, ’69, ’79, ’89 and ’99.

Among the events planned for the weekend are a golf tournament with a shotgun start at 1 p.m., Friday, April 17, a Tribute to Schreiner Legends Banquet, Military Breakfast, 3 K fun run/ 1 mile walk and the second annual Recall parade.

The Schreiner Legends Banquet will honor new Distinguished Alumni Norman Hoffman ’37 and Dr. Charles Johnson ’58, along with new inductees into the Athletic Hall of Honor, Reggie West ’51 and Raymond (Red) Daniels ’42.

The public is invited to the parade, which circles the campus on Acorn Boulevard and should be a lot of fun, especially for children. Participants, including Schreiner faculty and staff, student organizations and local alumni, will be competing for prizes in keeping with the parade theme, “A Hair-Raising Good Time. It will start at 10 a.m., Friday, April 18.

Paul Camfield, Associate Director Alumni Relations, said that the SFSA is hoping for a record turnout this year, and added that there are still sponsorship opportunities available for the golf tournament. Those interested can get in touch with Camfield at 830-792-7206 or by e-mail at phcamfield@schreiner.edu.
