Veterans at Schreiner

Throughout its history, Schreiner University has welcomed American veterans as students, as well as employed them as faculty and staff. It continues that proud tradition by providing assistance to veterans who want to use their G.I. Bill benefits to attend Schreiner.

Schreiner has a generous financial aid policy, borne of its donors’ deep commitment to helping students access its highly ranked liberal arts education. In addition, the World War II-era G.I. Bill and the new Post-9/11 G.I. Bill offer valuable benefits to qualified veterans who wish to attend Schreiner.

The benefit limit for Texas has been set far above the cost of Schreiner’s tuition. That is why Schreiner University did not apply to appear on the Department of Veterans Affairs “Yellow Ribbon” list. Schreiner, and many other independent and state supported colleges who are similarly absent from that list, stand ready and able to do everything it can to assist the men and women in the armed forces.

Schreiner President Tim Summerlin explains, “The current benefit limit in Texas effectively makes Schreiner University a ‘yellow ribbon’ institution, permitting ready access to qualified veterans, a fact that pleases us. We monitor the situation and will be prepared to act should any adjustment in that benefit level alter the situation.”
