The Schreiner University Fall Health Fair is coming up on Wednesday, Oct.
7, offering information and health screenings to the Schreiner community
and local citizens. The fair will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the ballrooms
of the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center.
Among the free services will be vision screening, tests for blood pressure,
blood sugar and body fat, and massage. There will be information available
in such areas as women’s health, smoking cessation and diabetes. Flu shots
also will be offered for $25. Please call to reserve your shot. Health
Scans, a medical screening company, will provide vascular screenings, the
cost of which will depend on the number of scans. Attendees also will be
able to win various door prizes.
Schreiner will host a blood drive, also open to the public, in the
Mountaineer Fitness Center on the same day as the fair. According to Gloria
Algeo, RN, Schreiner director of health and wellness, South Texas Blood
Services has said that it is safe to get a flu shot and give blood on the
same day.
