Texas Music Coffeehouse Series continues October 7
The McKay Brothers and Brennen Leigh will be the featured performers
Wednesday, Oct. 7 for the
Texas Music Coffeehouse Series at Schreiner University. The
program is a tribute to Texas music month and will be from 7-9
p.m. at the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center
Lion’s Den on the Schreiner campus.
Of the McKay Brothers, the New York Times said, “Their authenticity
is as welcome as a drive down a lonely road in a dusty pickup.” The
McKay Brothers, fifth generation Texans, grew up in the hills of
Bandera County and music became an inescapable part of their early
lives.
In a few short years, Austin-based performer Leigh—alongside brother
Seth Hulbert—has firmly established herself as one of the Lone Star
State's premiere singers and songwriters.
November 4 is the last coffeehouse of the fall semester and
will feature Patricia Vonne.
The Texas Music Coffeehouse Series is co-sponsored by Schreiner
University, the Texas Heritage Music Foundation, the Center for
Innovative Learning and the Student Activities Board. Held once a
month the first three months in each semester, the event provides a
space for writers, musicians and artists to showcase their work at
an open mike.
It is free and open to the public.
