Schreiner Writers Conference to feature Gabrielle Rico

 Schreiner Writers Conference to feature Gabrielle Rico The Schreiner University Center for Innovative Learning will sponsor the Texas Writers Conference, Thursday, April 22, in the ballroom of the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center. The featured speaker will be Dr. Gabrielle Rico. Dr. Rico, professor of English and Creative Arts at San Jose State University in California and author of “Writing the Natural Way” and “Pain and Possibility: Writing Your Way through Personal Crisis.” She is a respected speaker on the application of brain research to writing, learning and the creative process. She will give a workshop on “Finding Your Creative Voice.” David Meischen, managing editor of Austin-based Dos Gatos Press will offer a workshop on small press publishing and poetry at 1 p.m. Rico’s workshop will be at 3 p.m. and there will be a reception for her at 7 p.m. There also will be readings from area and Schreiner writers.

There is no charge for the workshops, but Dr. Kathleen Hudson, Schreiner professor of English and organizer of the conference said that RSVPs to either or 830-792-7409 would be appreciated to help with planning.
