Shelley King, official state musician,
to perform at Schreiner
Schreiner University’s
Texas Music Coffeehouse
series will present Shelley King, the first woman to be
named Official Texas State Musician, from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday,
March 3, in The Lion’s Den in the Floyd & Kathleen
Cailloux Campus Activity Center.
King has been nominated for a Lone Star Music Award for Best
Vocal Performance-Female for her seventh CD “Welcome Home,”
which features the hit single “Summer Wine.” “She's the player
who can hit all the balls, from bluesy balladry (‘It's Starting
to Rain’) and gospel (‘Welcome Home’) to zydeco (‘Everything's
All Right’) and country swamp pop (‘Asking Too Much’) with
righteous force,” said Margaret Moser, reviewing “Welcome Home”
for the Austin Chronicle.
The Texas Music Coffeehouse series
is sponsored by Schreiner’s Center for Innovative Learning. For

CIL programs, visit the Web at
