Monday Night Fiction to Feature ‘Plainsong’ February 8
Monday Night Fiction to Feature ‘Plainsong’Schreiner University’s Monday Night Fiction series will discuss “Plainsong” by Kent Haruf at 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 8, in the Scarle-Philips Room in the William Logan Library on the Schreiner campus. Dr. Cole Starr, assistant professor of religion and philosophy at Schreiner, will be the discussion leader.

“Plainsong” is a bestselling novel published in 1999 to lyrical reviews. It takes place in a small town in Colorado and tells the interwoven stories of the town’s inhabitants. The book won the Mountains & Plains Booksellers Award and the Maria Thomas Award in Fiction. It also was a finalist for the National Book Award, the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and the New Yorker Book Award.
