Schreiner offers information session for senior auditors
Each fall and spring semester, Schreiner University welcomes individuals 55 years old and older to audit college-level courses for a nominal fee. There will be an information session for those interested in taking advantage of this opportunity at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 21, in the Elaine B. Griffin Welcome Center on the Schreiner campus. An admissions counselor and an academic representative will be on hand to answer questions and help with the short admission process. Auditors will need to apply before registering for classes. Once accepted, auditors must attend registration 8 a.m.-11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 27, in the Registrar’s Office, located in the Tom Murray building on the University campus.
The application fee is $25 (nonrefundable) and courses are $25 per credit hour. Those who plan to audit Schreiner courses must apply by the August 1 deadline.
Classes are open first to regularly enrolled Schreiner students, then to auditors on a space-available basis. Class size is restricted to maintain Schreiner’s 13:1 student-teacher ratio. Auditors do not get class credit.
Classes in areas such as music, English literature, history, philosophy, religion, Spanish literature and political science are expected to be available for auditors in the fall 2010 semester, including Literary Criticism, American Literature from the Colonial Period, Mythology, Advanced Topics in Ethics, Middle East, British Literature from the Middle Ages, Contemporary War Films, Modern East Asia, Introduction to Music, Music Theory I Christian Theology and Survey of Latin American Literature.
To apply to Schreiner as an auditor, go to www.schreiner.edu/admission and look under Non-Degree Admission at the bottom of the page, or call the Office of Admission at 830-792-7217.
