‘Past Is Prologue’ Workshop at Schreiner Oct. 16

The 16th annual Past Is Prologue workshop, co-sponsored by Schreiner University’s Center for Innovative Learning and Past Is Prologue: A Learning Way, will be 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 16, in the Hanszen Fine Arts Theater on the Schreiner campus. This year’s theme is “Ancient Wisdom for Making Wise Choices,” facilitated by Stephanie Nestlerode. There will be a 9 a.m. coffee time, followed by the opening introduction.

Nestlerode is a founding partner of Omega Point International Inc., which provides retreats, conferences, executive coaching and training materials for improving decision-making skills and creative organizational change. The morning session will discuss learning through a Native American story; in the afternoon, the focus will be on applying useful time-tested Native American ways of learning and also choosing an appropriate path through tumultuous times.

“I have been working with this organization, Past is Prologue, since the beginning,” said Dr. Kathleen Hudson, professor of English at Schreiner, “and I am inspired by the work of Paula Underwood, who wrote “The Walking People,” and Jeanne Slobod, who helped bring the programming to Schreiner University by supporting a Center for Innovative Learning. Now is the time to consider ancient wisdom in this time of change.”

PIP workshops are free and open to the public. However, space is limited to 25 participants, who can register for either one or both workshops. Participants can earn up to six continuing education credits by attending both workshops. To register, call or e-mail Dr. Kathleen Hudson at 830-792-7409 or
