Schreiner offers family fun for Halloween
Schreiner University will sponsor its annual Fright Night for children 4 to 11 years old from 6-8 p.m., Friday, October 29, in the Free Speech Zone between the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center and the Gus Schreiner Dining Hall on the University campus. This annual event, sponsored by the University’s Student Activities Board, student organizations and Sodexo, is free and open to the public. There will be games and other fun activities.
“Sodexo will be hosting a wickedly good dinner in the dining hall that night, from 5 to 7 p.m.,” said Jennifer Hudson-Velazquez, director of student activities and Greek life. “They will be serving steak, baked potato, green beans, rolls, beefy mac and pizza, with tofu steak as the vegetarian option, for $7.50 per person.”
Schreiner’s Texas Sigma chapter of Phi Delta Theta fraternity will open their annual Haunted House 8-12 p.m., Oct. 28-31, in the Rex Kelley Pavilion on the Schreiner campus. Admission is $3 for children, $7 for adults and $5 for students with an ID.
“The Haunted House has 10 rooms every year, varying in size and scariness,” said Schreiner junior and fraternity president, Will Keaton. “Last year we had the biggest turnout in our history and we expect even more this year.”
Keaton said the house comes in two versions: “one for those who are daring enough and a toned-down version for younger kids.”
