Monday Night Fiction to Discuss Berlin Novel
Schreiner University’s Monday Night Fiction series will discuss “Berlin Blues” by Sven Regener at 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 14, in the Scarle-Philips Room of the William Logan Library on the Schreiner campus. Silke Feltz, adjunct professor of English, will lead the discussion.
“Berlin Blues,” originally published in Germany as “Herr Lehmann,” is Regener’s first novel. The story’s protagonist is a twenty-nine-year-old German bartender with distinct slacker tendencies, and follows him through a critical time of his life as he faces turning 30. The screenplay he wrote based on the novel won a gold Deutscher Filmpreis. Regener also plays trumpet and writes lyrics for the band Element of Crime, which he co-founded with Jakob Friderichs.
Monday Night Fiction is sponsored by Schreiner’s Center for Innovative Learning. For more information about this or any other Schreiner University humanities event, contact Martha York at the Center for Innovative Learning, (830) 792-7352.
