Premier showing of ‘Painted Violins’ at Symphony of the Hills Dec. 1 concert

KERRVILLE—The Symphony of the Hills will have the first exhibit of its “Painted Violins” at its Dec. 1 concert at 6:30 p.m. and during the intermission. The concert, “Rising Stars & the Many Moods of Christmas,” will be at 7:30 p.m., at The Cailloux Theater, 910 Main St., Kerrville. Earlier this year, the Symphony provided violins to local artists to be painted or decorated as inspired by each artist’s unique talent.

After the concert the violins will be displayed at other local venues, including the Great Hall of Schreiner’s Logan Library and the Kerr Arts and Cultural Center. The violins will then be auctioned at the Symphony’s March 8, 2012, concert to raise funds for expanding the Symphony’s reach in the Hill Country area. The artists all donated their time and materials and all proceeds from the auction will directly benefit the symphony.

The artists who participated are Halsey Bascom, Kathryn Bowen, Kathleen Cook, Norma Daniel, Evelyn Hickey, John and Edith Maskey, Mary Ann Moss, Clint Orms, Judy Richie, Andy Ritch, Richard Rouse, Nancy Wallace, Roy Lee Ward, Mary Weekley and Mary Zirkel.

Tickets for concerts can be purchased at www.symphonyofthehills.org/tickets or by calling the Symphony office at 830-792-7469 or the Cailloux box office, 830-896-9393.
