Schreiner’s Choirs to Perform Oct. 28
Schreiner University’s four choirs will perform the Fall Choral Concert at 6 p.m. Oct. 28 at First Presbyterian Church in Kerrville.
The event is free and open to the public.
The four choirs—the University Choir, concert choir, women’s ensemble and men’s ensemble—all under the direction of Michael Kahl, assistant professor of music, will perform an array of music including, sacred, folk, pop and spirituals.
Some of the selected songs are “Down to the River to Pray,” which was featured in the motion picture "O Brother Where Art Thou" as well as the song “I'll Fly Away,” which will be sung by the women's ensemble,” Kahl said. “The university choir will sing an arrangement of the Billy Joel song, “River of Dreams.” The concert choir will sing “Rain, Rain, Rain” which was originally recorded by the Grammy award-winning World music ensemble Ladysmith Black Mambazo. And finally, an original arrangement of “The Water is Wide” will be sung by the men's ensemble.” Kahl added that the piece was written by recent Schreiner graduate Zach Salcich.”
