Schreiner Theatre Department to present ‘The Glass Menagerie’
The Schreiner University Theatre Department will present Tennessee Williams’ “The Glass Menagerie” at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28-30 in the Hanszen Fine Arts Studio Theatre on the Schreiner Campus. Sunday's performance is scheduled for 2pm.
Admission to the production is free to Schreiner students and $2 for adults and other patrons.
Williams began work on what would become “The Glass Menagerie” in 1941. It is narrated by Tom Wingfield — the main character who recounts the events through his memories. Wingfield is an aspiring poet who works in a shoe warehouse to support his mother and sister. The play is set in St. Louis in 1937 and centers around themes such as difficulty relating to and accepting reality, the impossibility of an escape from life and the power memories can hold.
