Season’s Last SOH Concert ‘Out of this World”
Symphony of the Hills, under the direction of Jay Dunnahoo, will present its fourth concert of the 2011-2012 season, “Out of this World,” at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 3, at The Cailloux Theater, 910 Main St., Kerrville.
The first half of the evening’s program will open with “Fanfare” from “Also Sprach Zarathustra,” by Richard Strauss (known to many as the theme song from the film “2001: A Space Odyssey.”) and conclude with six movements from Gustav Holst’s “The Planets.”
After intermission, the orchestra will present “Princess Leia’s Theme,” “The Imperial March (Darth Vader’s Theme),” “Yoda’s Theme” and “Throne Room & End Title” from “Star Wars: Suite for Orchestra” by John Williams, all of which are bound to raise your spirits and bring back memories. The evening will end with “On the Beautiful Blue Danube Waltzes, op. 314” by Johann Strauss Jr., to bring your heart rate back down to normal. You’ll leave the theater ready to take on the galaxy.
This will be the Symphony’s last concert until October. For more information and tickets, call the Cailloux Theater box office at 830-896-9393 or go online to www.symphonyofthehills.org/tickets.
