Symphony of the Hills to provide musical outreach to local schools using ‘Painted Violins’
KERRVILLE — During February, the Symphony of the Hills will be conducting a music enrichment program for third and fourth graders at the four KISD elementary schools. The students will hear live music played by Jonathan Raveneau, who will also present a discussion and perspective on the violin. A number of the Symphony’s “Painted Violins” will be on display and the artists who created them will discuss their artistic style and the process of applying it to a violin.

Earlier this year, the Symphony provided violins to local artists to be painted or decorated as inspired by each artist’s unique talents. The artists all donated their time and materials and all proceeds from the auction will directly benefit the symphony.

The artists participating are Halsey Bascom, Kathryn Bowen, Kathleen Cook, Norma Daniel, Evelyn Hickey, John and Edith Maskey, Mary Ann Moss, Clint Orms, Judy Richie, Andy Ritch, Richard Rouse, Nancy Wallace, Roy Lee Ward, Mary Weekley and Mary Zirkel.

The Violins are currently on display at the Kerrville Arts & Cultural Center through March 4.

The Symphony will auction its “Painted Violins” at its March 8 concert. A Silent Auction will be held from 6:00 to 7:15 p.m. and a live auction will be conducted during the concert intermission. The concert, “For the Young and Young at Heart”, will be at 7:30 p.m. at The Cailloux Theater, 910 Main St., Kerrville.

Symphony concert tickets can be purchased at or by calling the Cailloux box office, 830-896-9393.
