The Symphony of the Hills presents “For the Young and Young at Heart” on March 8

Kerrville’s Symphony of the Hills will present its popular “For the Young and Young at Heart” concert at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 8 at The Cailloux Theater, 910 Main St., Kerrville.

The Symphony will conduct two daytime performances for children to introduce area third and fourth graders to symphonic music, as an expression of the Symphony’s ongoing educational mission.

Painted Violin by Clint Orms The concert, which features music appealing to all ages, includes: Antonin Dvorak’s “New World” Symphony No. 9; “Adagio from Concerto for Clarinet” in A major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, featuring Dr. Tamara Raatz as soloist; “Promenade (Walking the Dog)” from George Gershwin’s “Shall We Dance,” also featuring Dr. Raatz; “Golliwog’s Cakewalk” from Claude Debussy’s “Children’s Corner”; the “Emperor Waltz” by Johann Strauss, Jr. and “Pops Hoedown” by Richard Hayman.

The Symphony’s “Painted Violins” will be auctioned at the evening performance, with a silent auction beginning at 6 p.m. and a live auction during intermission.
