Nonfiction Book Club to investigate Florence’s Duomo
Schreiner University’s Nonfiction Book Club will meet to discuss “Brunelleschi’s Dome: The Story of the Great Cathedral in Florence,” by Ross King, at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7, in the Scarle-Philips Room of William Logan Library on the University campus.

Ross’ book relates the story of the construction of the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, the cathedral church of Florence, Italy, which was begun in 1296. Its magnificent dome designed by 15th century Italian architect Filippo Brunelleschi remains the largest masonry dome ever built. The dome completed structural work on the cathedral structure in 1436.

The Nonfiction Book Club is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Center for Innovative learning at Schreiner. For more information about CIL programming, visit the website.
