Schreiner University Vocational Nursing Graduates recognized at ceremony

KERRVILLE, Texas—Graduates of Schreiner University’s vocational nursing program received their diplomas during commencement ceremonies held in the Dietert Auditorium on April 20, before an audience of friends, family and members of the University’s academic faculty.

Vocational Nursing Graduates

Members of the graduating class are: Natasha Flores, daughter of Dean and Phyllis Adkins; Ploysiri Douville-Torkaew, daughter of Marrysue and Michael Douville; Zitlaly Garcia, daughter of Juan Morales and Maria Rios; Clarissa Jaime, daughter of G. C. Banda; Judith R. Rogers, daughter of J. R. and Patricia Dye; Bryan Henley, son of Herman and Kathy Henley; Monica Lopez Gonzalez, daughter of Genaro and Dominga Lopez; Mary Louise Etchison, daughter of Dr. Russell Guill and Louise Guill, both deceased; Mary Joy V. Geller; Andrea R. Chapman, daughter of Windell and Reve Davis; Cynthia Benson, daughter of Tim and Wanda Benson, and Cynthia Marie Flores, daughter of Michael and Rachel Fifer, all of Kerrville; Marcy Vehon, daughter of Howard Keene, and Misti LaChelle Wyatt McCloud, daughter of Robert and Susan Wyatt, both of Hunt; Gloria Snead of Comfort, daughter of Steve and Deborah Drymala; Sally Rutledge of Harper, daughter of James and Mary Jordan; Ryan H. Bailey of Fredericksburg, son of Priscilla Bailey; Kara Quarles, daughter of Kevin and Shelly Quarles; Jennifer L. Hall, daughter of Brent and Gail Fullerton, and Rebecca Williams, daughter of Tom and Beth Williams, all of Bandera; Jessica Mertz Kneese of Stonewall, daughter of David and Julie Mertz; Kristen Jennings of Marble Falls, daughter of Eric and Pat Mezger, and Sherry Gonzalez of Spring Hill, FL, daughter of Charles Ward and Francis Ferris.

Mary Louise Etchison received the award for excellence in academic achievement and outstanding clinical performance. Ryan Howard Bailey received the award for outstanding clinical performance.

Theresa Hickman of Peterson Regional Medical Center was the speaker for the commencement. Hickman was also the recipient of the appreciation award.  The nursing class also recognized two faculty members retiring from Schreiner University: Rosemary Pullin, who has served as the Director of the VN Program, and also as a program instructor, and Deborah Shaw, clinical coordinator and instructor for the program.
Schreiner University offers two rotations of its one-year vocational nursing certification program each year; one begins in January and one begins in April.
