Monday Night Fiction gets gangster with ‘Get Shorty’

Schreiner University’s Monday Night Fiction series will continue with a discussion of “Get Shorty” by Elmore Leonard at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 15, at the Schreiner Recliner in the Floyd and Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center on Schreiner Campus. Dr. Tom Wells, professor of exercise and science, will lead the discussion.

“Get Shorty” is a story about a mob-connected loan shark, Chili Palmer, who is sick of the Miami grind—plus, his “friends” have a nasty habit of dying there. When Palmer chases a deadbeat client to Hollywood, Palmer figures he might like to stay a while.

Monday Night Fiction is free and open to the public, and is sponsored by Schreiner’s Center for Innovative Learning.
