Chautauqua lecture at Schreiner will explore ultra-distance athletes’ motivation
Schreiner University speakers Carrie West and Dr. Kyle Busing, assistant professor of exercise science, will present: “Going the Distance: An exploratory study of motivation of ultra-endurance athletes” as part of the University’s Chautauqua lecture series at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, in the ballroom of the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center.
This presentation will analyze the ultra-endurance sport movement and its unprecedented growth in the last years. As the extreme sport continues, athletes are searching for bigger and better challenges. The lecture will feature results from a pilot study which explores motivators and barriers to exercise by individuals who compete in 100-mile ultra-marathons.
All Chautauqua events are sponsored by Schreiner’s Center for Innovative Learning and are free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Martha York at 830-792-7352 or at mlyork@schreiner.edu, or visit the Schreiner website at www.schreiner.edu.
