Schreiner University Graduation May 11

students throwing caps after graduationSchreiner University’s 2013 commencement and baccalaureate services will take place on Saturday, May 11, in the Edington Center on the Schreiner campus.

The baccalaureate service will be at 10:30 a.m. with Ana Rosales Salazar ’04 as the featured speaker. Salazar is a native of Piedras Negras, Mexico, and was Schreiner’s first student from the Presbyterian Pan American School. Salazar graduated from the Austin Presbyterian Seminary in 2007 and has since served in church and social service roles since then.

Dr. Joey King will give the commencement address at 1:30 p.m. King is the executive director of the National Institute for Technology in Liberal Education (NITLE) and vice president for innovation at Southwestern University. NITLE supports the efforts of independent liberal arts colleges to accomplish their goals of implementing the lessons of the digital age to learning. Schreiner has been a member of NITLE for several years.

King serves on many boards, including chairman of the board of Teachers Without Borders, which is devoted to teacher professional development on a global scale.

Commencement seating is limited to ticket holders.
