Schreiner to Kick off Todd’s Toy Drive April 15
Schreiner University’s sixth annual Todd’s Toy Drive will kick off April 15 and run through the 22nd.
Formerly known as Todd’s Teddy Bear Drive, it was inspired by Schreiner student, Todd Schwennesen. While at Schreiner, he was diagnosed with brain cancer. During his treatments at M.D. Anderson Hospital, Schwennesen saw many children undergoing similar treatment and was determined to help comfort them. He planned to deliver teddy bears to each patient but his health declined drastically and he was unable to complete his mission. In honor of his compassion for others, Schreiner students joined together to collect teddy bears and send them to M.D. Anderson and other hospitals in need. Schwennesen lost his battle with cancer on April 19, 2008, but his compassion for others will live on through Todd’s Toy Drive.
M. D. Anderson can’t accept stuffed animals or used toys due to infection control policy. Please bring new items in their original packaging to the Office of Student Activities and Volunteer Service in the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center on the SU campus.
Requested items include, jewelry beads, yarn and string, glitter pens, pre-packaged craft kits, journals and writing supplies, plastic baby dolls, action figures, trains, board games, etc.
For a complete list of requested items or questions about donations, please contact Angie Bauman, director of student activities and volunteer service at SU, at email@example.com or 830-792-7283.
