Department of Education Open House scheduled for June 20
Schreiner University’s Department of Education will host an open house for those interested in its Masters of Education and Principal Certification programs from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 20 at the Alumni House on the University campus.
Dr. Neva V. Cramer, director of Graduate Education and Teacher Education at Schreiner, said the open house will be an opportunity for undergraduates, current educators and those who have an undergraduate degree but are looking to get certified in education to meet the program’s professors and get information about the hybrid, three-semester program. The program boasts four different areas of study: a master of education degree, master of education plus principal certification, master of education plus teacher certification and principal certification.
In May, Marcus Tinajero was one of eight students to graduate with his Master’s degree in education, and he plans to continue his learning at a doctoral level.
“Schreiner has been the best decision I have made in my life, and I have never looked back,” he said. “I am the first in my family to hold a bachelors and now, thanks to Schreiner, I will be the first with a masters, with aspirations and motivation to continue on both personally and professionally—to learn truly by heart!”
Those who enroll in the master’s program will complete most of the work online and meet one Saturday a month on campus during the regular school year and every Saturday in June. The principal certification program is all online and is SACS approved.
Applications for the program currently are being accepted for the fall semester.
