SU to host tennis camps for beginners, advanced players

SU Tennis Camp

Schreiner University’s head tennis coach, Wade Morgan, will instruct two camps this summer—one catering to beginners and the other to intermediate and advanced players.

The beginner session will be hosted Monday, July 15 through Thursday, July 18 at the tennis courts on the Schreiner campus. This camp is geared toward teaching basic aspects of the game including, match play, scorekeeping and strategy for both doubles and singles. Children and teens interested in playing tennis in junior high and high school are encouraged to attend this camp. During the camp, the attendees will be broken into two groups based on age—5 to 11 and 12 to 15—in order to better serve their needs.

Group 1—ages 5 to 11—will meet every day from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and Group 2—ages 12 to 15—will meet every day of camp from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The cost of the camp for Group 1 is $50 and Group 2 is $75 for the full session.

The intermediate and advanced session will start Sunday, July 21 and run through July 25. This camp features an overnight option in addition to the day-camp option.

This session will provide quality tennis for those looking to take their game to a new level. Each camper will participate in at least six hours of tennis daily, and the participants will have a variety of activities off the courts, too.

The cost of the overnight camp option is $450, and the cost of day camp is $350. All campers are required to pay a $100 deposit by June 15.
