Texas Writers Conference on tap for April 1-3

Texas Writers Conference

Each spring, the Texas Writers Conference features writers from all genres, and gives SU students, faculty and staff and the community an opportunity to explore their own creative sides.
The event, which will kick off with open mike at 1 p.m. Monday, April 1, will be hosted in the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center on the Schreiner campus.

Other events include, afternoon workshops and evening readings by showcased writers or a panel of writers.

The event is free and open to the public.

April 1-3, Cailloux Student Activities Center, Ballrooms

Monday, April 1
1 to 2:15 p.m.: Open mike sponsored by Sigma Tau Delta. Open to faculty, students and community.   
2:25 to 3:40 p.m.: Workshop with Juan Perez “Creativity and our voices.”  (www.juanperez.com)
6 to 8:30 p.m.: Creativity Explored:  Juan Perez featured writer. Interdisciplinary Studies creativity classes, Sigma Tau Delta, student displays, student and community members are encouraged to read tonight.  

Tuesday, April 2
10:50 a.m.: Workshop: William Groneman III, New York City firefighter, will discuss his memoir, “September 11.”   

Wednesday, April 3
1 to 2:15 p.m.: Workshop: Kevin Higgins (songwriter)—“Creativity and Inspiration”
2:25 to 3:40 p.m.: Thom Moon Poet: “The Wildness of Creativity”
7 to 9 p.m., Lion’s Den of the Cailloux Activity Center: Texas Music Coffeehouse—Spoken Word, Slam poetry, Thom Joy Poet and music by Kevin Higgins and Barbara Malteze
