Chautauqua event to explore Second Amendment

Constitution Day

Fred Henneke, adjunct professor at Schreiner University, will lead a debate on the Second Amendment at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, in the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center Ballroom on the SU campus.

Schreiner regularly hosts events that allow the community to reflect on multiple issues and perspectives impacting lives today, according to Dr. Charlie McCormick, provost and vice president for academic affairs.

“This is part of the BIG IDEA program this year. The theme of this year’s BIG IDEA is ‘Rights and Responsibilities,’” McCormick said. “There are few issues that elicit such debate in Texas today—as well as throughout the nation—as the Second Amendment. The intention of this debate is to better inform students and participating community members of the rights and responsibilities that revolve around this subject.”

All Chautauqua events are sponsored by Schreiner’s Center for Innovative Learning and are free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Martha York at 792-7352 or mlyork@schreiner.edu, or visit the Schreiner website at www.schreiner.edu.
