Texas Music Coffeehouse slated for Oct. 2
Schreiner University’s Texas Music Coffeehouse will continue with some blues and American Roots music. The event is scheduled for 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, in the Lion’s Den of the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center.
The Coffeehouse will begin with an open mike night and feature Will Owen Gage—a young man who has performed at Schreiner University before as a teenager. Gage’s music is heavily influenced by Jimi Hendrix, Bluegrass, Folk and Mountain music.
“He is an exciting guitar player,” said Dr. Kathleen Hudson, founder of the event. “The first time I heard him I knew he had been listening to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix. He has his debut CD out and I am using in my Texas music 1301 English composition class.”
The Texas Music Coffeehouse Series is free and open to the public, and is co-sponsored by the English and Foreign Languages Department, the Texas Heritage Music Foundation, Chi Phi, Melody Corner and Muzematic Music Store. For more information, call Dr. Kathleen Hudson, SU English professor, at 830-792-7409.
Door prizes also will be up for grabs during the event.
