Schreiner Study Club will kick off on Oct. 1

The Schreiner Study Club

The first day of Schreiner Study Club is set for 10:30 a.m. to noon on Oct. 1 at the Hunt United Methodist Church. The fall courses scheduled for October 1, 8, 22 and 29 will cover “Utopian and Dystopian Literature and Film.” The event also includes Movie Night at the Schreiner Mansion featuring “Bladerunner” set for Oct. 10.

The price for the course is $75 per person, and only 20 spots remain available.

Dr. William Woods, dean of the school of liberal arts at Schreiner University, will lead the classes and discuss some of the best examples of utopian/dystopian novels including, “Brave New World,” “1984,” “Lord of the Flies,” and “World Made by Hand,” as well as view short clips from films such as “Avatar,” “V for Vendetta,” “Fight Club,” “Brazil,” and “Cloud Atlas.”
