Illinois Skeet Champion Signs with Schreiner

Skeet Signing

Benjamin Schroeder, a champion skeet shooter from Cherry Valley, Ill., was at Schreiner University on Thursday, March 16, to sign a letter of intent.

Schroeder, who plans on starting at Schreiner in fall 2017 and majoring in business, was on his way to compete in the Blaser Skeet Classic in San Antonio, March 16–19.

His recent record includes winning the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) nationals American skeet doubles championship; the Wisconsin State SCTP grand championship; and the Illinois State 28-gauge championship. He was high over all (HOA) runner-up at the Kolar Mid-America Skeet Tournament, and holds the top HOA for Illinois high school skeet in 2017.

Schroeder is also a four-time member of the National Rifle Association’s All-Scholastic Team. A senior with online Keystone National High School, he competes as part of the Central Falcons Varsity Shooters of Westosha Central High School in Salem, Wis.

Schroeder said he chose Schreiner University because he likes the campus, the warm climate and the successful record of the Schreiner Shooting Sports Society.

Under the leadership of Coach Bill Thomas, the Schreiner shooters will compete in the ACUI Collegiate Clay Target Championship on March 28–April 2 at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio. They will be seeking to win the Division III championship after finishing second for three straight years.
