Kerrville, TX – As part of its ongoing lecture series, “Novel, TX: The Hill Country Writers Series of Schreiner University,” the university is delighted to welcome local author M. Witt McCarty who will read from and sign her latest novel, Azure: Death in the Texas Hill Country on Thursday, November 16th, in the university bookstore at 7pm. The reading is free and open to the public.
The novel, a fast-paced whodunit, takes place in the Texas Hill Country and features art director-turned-detective Maeve Clarke who must untangle a mystery at an executive retreat before she becomes framed for a crime she didn’t commit.
McCarty, a local artist and author, states, “I consider it an honor to be asked to speak at my alma mater, in support of my first novel. I am looking forward to meeting with my readers, answering questions about my book and the writing process as well as doing a short reading.”
“Novel, TX” features local authors and is held every fall semester at the newly renovated Schreiner University Outfitters Bookstore. “It’s a great place to enjoy a little fiction,” says lecture series organizer, William Woods of the English department. “We have so many talented writers hiding out here in the hills of Texas, and the university is delighted to offer them this venue.”
According to McCarty, “I’m a storyteller. Finding new and better ways to tell a story has long been my passion. What this means to the people in my life is sometimes the truth has to be stretched here and there to provide a more satisfying tale. I remind them now and then it is for the greater good.”
Seating is limited so local community members are encouraged to arrive early.
