Schreiner University Professor Receives Hall of Fame Honor

Dr Grillo

Boca Rotan, FL – Dr. Michael Grillo, Associate Professor of Political Science at Schreiner University, was honored with induction into the Florida Atlantic University, Leon Charney Diplomacy Program Hall of Fame. Initiated in 2010, the Hall of Fame honors students who have achieved noteworthy success after leaving FAU. Students whose accomplishments merit induction are nominated by a committee of faculty for inclusion.

Dr. Grillo graduated from FAU in 2002 and was a participant in the Diplomacy Program from 2000-2002, then went on to complete his Masters of Arts degree in Political Science. He pursued his PhD in Political Science and International Relations at the University of Delaware. Currently, Dr. Grillo teaches a variety of international relations courses at Schreiner University.

“It delights me to see Schreiner University faculty receive the accolades they so richly deserve,” said Schreiner University Provost, Dr. Diana Comuzzie. Inspired by his participation in the Leon Charney Diplomacy Program, Dr. Grillo began a Model United Nations program at Schreiner University in 2015. The program has been recognized for academic excellence by the National Model United Nations, the world’s largest and most prestigious collegiate Model UN program.

“Dr. Grillo is a popular professor, whose classes are richly interactive, and his work in taking students to New York every year for Model UN are exactly the types of high impact practices that we know bring about high level learning in our students,” added Comuzzie. “Our students compete very well at Model UN, and I know that is largely because of his mentoring.”

His research focuses on the psychological determinants of political behavior and public opinion in foreign policy and domestic conflict. Dr. Grillo has won several teaching and research awards for his work.
