Since its inception as a military school in 1923, Schreiner has been home to generations of young men and women who have gone on to serve their country in the armed forces.
Today, Schreiner is becoming a place where veterans come to begin or continue their schooling after leaving active duty service.

Les Steubing graduated from Tivy high school in 1991 and joined the Army, serving nearly six years on active duty as a military policeman. He enrolled at Schreiner in 2003 and plans to graduate in 2005. Les credits military service as the source of much of his personal growth. Les will be pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at Truett Seminary at Baylor University in the fall, and will be primarily focused upon middle and high school aged student ministry.
Mark Lenzo served eleven years in the Army as a psychological tech and a respiratory therapist. Mark is working on a business degree at Schreiner with an emphasis on finance, and plans to join the staff of the Veterans Administration hospital in Kerrville upon graduation, where his wife is currently working as a nursing coordinator. Sam Tannenbaum graduated from the Vangard Institute in San Antonio in 1996 and joined the Navy in 1997, serving in Naval Intelligence aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln in the Pacific. He enrolled at Schreiner in 2001 to begin studies in religion. Sam will graduate in May 2005 and plans to enter the ministry. His experience at Schreiner has been “a very positive one, especially for me as a non-traditional student.”
