PARKING PROCEDURES AND POLICIES
2008-2009
VEHICLE REGISTRATION
1. Each student & employee who operates a
motor vehicle on campus is required to register the
vehicle and to comply with the rules regarding
parking areas. A student or employee MUST DISPLAY a
vehicle parking sticker on the left side of the rear
bumper or on the outside of the rear window on the
driver’s side.
2. Parking permits are available during registration
and at the Security Office in the Tom Murray
Building.
3. These regulations apply to motorcycle operators
and mopeds as well as automobiles.
4. There is a $5.00 fee for each additional sticker
after one has been issued.
PARKING RULES
1. The possession of a parking permit does not
guarantee a parking space in a particular area;
2. No parking is permitted on campus streets or
drives except where parking spaces are clearly
marked.
3. Drivers will refrain from parking in any space
that may obstruct traffic. It is a violation of
these regulations to park in the following spaces:
- Any curb or sidewalk
- Beside a red curb
- In front of a fire hydrant
- In any designated loading zone
- In any place marked “NO PARKING” or “Visitor Parking ”
- In any driveway entrance or exit
- In any area indicated as a crosswalk
- In any area other than the one allowed by your designated sticker
- To obstruct a sidewalk
4. In addition:
- Cars not properly parked in marked spaces or not parked between
parallel lines will be subject to parking violation

- Double parking is prohibited
- Parking on lawns or fields is prohibited (except when directed to do
so)
- Parking that obstructs a sidewalk is prohibited
5. Other traffic violations include:
- No parking permit or parking permit improperly displayed
- Reckless driving
- Excessive automobile noise
- Failure to obey traffic signs and signals
- Exceeding the speed limit
- Driving on lawns and fields
- Exhibition of acceleration
6. Failure to stop when the Security Officer has his
lights flashing is a serious traffic violation and
results in a $50.00 fine and/or loss of the
privilege of driving a motor vehicle on the campus.
7. Parking will be monitored between the hours of
7:30am and 4:30pm Monday – Thursday and on Fridays
7:30am to 12:00noon.
*VEHICLES IN VIOLATION OF THESE RULES MAY BE
TOWED AWAY AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE.*
TRAFFIC FINES
1. Parking in fire lanes or a marked handicap
space is a $100.00 fine.
2. Failure to Register Vehicle is a $50.00
fine.
3. Current permit not displayed is a $50.00
fine.
4. Improper display or mutilated parking decal
is a $25.00 fine.
5. Forging or fraudulently using a parking
decal is a $100.00 fine.
6. Displaying Expired Decal is a $100.00 fine.
7. All other parking violations are $15.00
each.
8. No official transcript, grades or book
purchases will be issued if a student has not paid
his/her violation fine.
9. After the second violation per academic
year the fine will increase from $15.00 to $50.00
for each offense.

PARKING APPEALS
Appeals must be submitted in writing to Fred
Gamble, Vice President for Administration and
Finance. Mr. Gamble is located in the Tom Murray
building on the second floor. Your appeal may also
be submitted to Mr. Gamble via e-mail at
fgamble@schreiner.edu.
You will then be notified in writing of his decision
on your appeal.
PARKING DESIGNATIONS
Commuter Parking: Commuter Students will be
restricted to park only in the parking lots
designated for commuters. Parking lots are as
follows: Central lot, Hansen Fine Arts lot, Edington
Center lot, North Parking Lot A and West Lot.
Pecan Grove Resident Parking: Your parking is
located in the spaces surrounding the apartment
buildings. Please do not park in any other lots on
the campus or you will be ticketed. Only one vehicle
per student allowed at Pecan Grove at any one time.
For your convenience there are parking spaces that
are painted blue, that are on a first come first
serve basis. The spaces are located in the Central
Lot and in the Welcome Center Lot. If all of the
spaces are full you must go back to your apartment
complex and park your vehicle.
The Oaks Residential Parking: Your parking is
located in the spaces surrounding the apartment
buildings. Please do not park in any other lots on
campus or you will be ticketed. Only one vehicle per
student allowed at The Oaks at any one time. For
your convenience there are parking spaces that are
painted blue, that are on a first come first serve
basis. The spaces are located in the Central Lot and
in the Welcome Center Lot. If all of the spaces are
full you must go back to your apartment complex and
park your vehicle.
Resident Student Parking: Resident Students
will be restricted to parking in their assigned
residence parking lot. Resident overflow parking is
located in the tennis court lot adjacent to Trull
Residence Hall.
Faulkner Hall & Delaney Hall: Resident
Students will be restricted to parking in their
assigned residence parking lot. Resident overflow
parking is located in the tennis court lot adjacent
to Trull Residence Hall. Students may not park in
“Visitor Parking Only” spaces at any of the other
Apartment complexes or anywhere else on campus.
Handicapped Parking: The Handicap spaces are
for students and visitors with handicapped license
plates and/or hanging tags.
Employee Parking: Employees are to park in
areas designated as such: Hoon Hall, West Lot, North
Parking Lot A (Cailloux Hall) North Parking Lot B
(Tom Murray), Edington Center, Central Lot, A.C.
Schreiner Hall, Hanszen Fine Arts, Cailloux Campus
Activity Center, on Hammond Dr. next to the Guy
Griggs Building, and in front of the Elaine B.
Griffin Welcome Center.

VEHICLE SAFETY
TIPS
- Do not leave valuables in your
vehicle or in plain view. Jewelry, cash,
apparel, etc. is an attraction to potential
thieves. - When exiting your vehicle make sure your windows are rolled up and doors are locked. - When walking to your vehicle, be sure to have your key in hand so you are not standing outside the car for a period of time.
- Avoid parking in dark secluded areas.
