Cathy's Halloween costume >>
Where were you prior? I worked
for James Avery Craftsman for 2 1/2 years and for KPUB for 8 1/2
years.
What do you like best about Schreiner University?
It has so much to offer. Schreiner is such a great place
to be that I talked both my parents into working here as well. They
are both part-time Program Aids for LSS (Learning
Support Services).
What
do you like best about your position at Schreiner? Helping
employees with questions or problems they have with insurance or
benefits. I also really enjoy welcoming new employees to campus
and introducing them to all that Schreiner has to offer.
What Schreiner events do you enjoy?
There are too many to name them all. Top of my list would be Fright
Night and Freshman Move-In.
On Fright Night (October 30) students and staff transform
the Robbins-Lewis Pavilion into a house of fun, fright, tricks and
treats for the Kerrville area children.
The
Freshman Move-In occurs on the Saturday before classes start.
The staff and faculty show up and assist the new students in moving
their belongings to their dorm rooms. Just about every department
on campus has staff or faculty members who help in some way. Some
donate water, food and snacks to feed the movers and new arrivals
and family, while others do the actual moving. The parents and students
truly appreciate the assistance and it gives us a chance to meet
and greet the freshmen.
Favorite food: Italian (homemade
lasagna) and Chinese food
Favorite books: I enjoy the
books of C.S. Lewis and have begun sharing The Chronicles of Narnia
with my daughter. Currently I an reading NUTS by Kevin Frieberg
and Jackie Frieberg as part of the Supervisor Certification Program.
Favorite
music: I like a variety of music from Classic Rock to
pop and jazz. The Eagles, Billy Joel, Queen, Annie Lennox,
The Beatles, Carole King, James Taylor, Stevie Nicks, Chuck Mangione.
(Sorry, I could go on & on...)
Favorite
vacation spot: Anywhere with my family. We enjoy camping
and hiking. Texas has so many great parks to explore.
What do you like to do during your weekends?
We like to go to Enchanted
Rock (pictured right) or Lost Maples for a hike and a picnic
lunch. During the summer we spend at least one afternoon at a river
or pool canoeing or swimming. We also like kayaking on occasion
(they can be checked out from Campus Recreation).
Is
there any particular advice you can give to students?
"The future is something which everyone reaches at the rate
of 60 minutes in an hour, whatever he does, whoever he is."
----C.S. Lewis
Use your time to the fullest by getting involved and being a part
of all that is offered.
