How long have you been with Schreiner?
Where were you prior?
I've been with Schreiner since 1997, prior to that I spent twenty
years in the US Navy Submarine Service. Strategic Weapons (i.e..
Submarine Launched Ballistic Missiles) was my warfare specialty.
In between the sea tours I served on various staffs stationed everywhere
from California, Hawaii, Nebraska, Florida, Connecticut. Hawaii
was always my favorite-- did three tours there for a total of 6
1/2 years. As for time under water I added it up once and I spent
a little over 3.5 years submerged.
Why
do you like Schreiner?
For me Schreiner is an ideal place to work; it is not a, “Pressure
Cooker” environment. True to the school’s mantra “All
Learn all the Time,” I have had the opportunity to learn a
variety of computer software including the latest graphic and video
editing software.
Note: Dan took & edited the photos on
this page.
What Schreiner events do you enjoy?
I really enjoy the annual, “Ride for the Cure” that
the Bicycle Team sponsors. I always come out and ride with them.
Favorite
books: Tom Clancy’s earlier works; Hunt for Red
October, Patriot Games, Sum of All Fears. On the lighter side, I’ve
read all of Edgar Rice Burroughs, Man of Mars series and am currently
reading H. G. Wells War of the Worlds.
Favorite vacation spot: The
Beach
Favorite music: Bare Naked Ladies,
Alannah Myles, Led Zeppelin
What
do you like to do during your weekends? I kayak, bicycle, and work in the yard. In the evenings I spend
a lot of time, “dinking” at the computer trying to hone
my skills. (There’s that learning thing again).
Is there any particular advice you give
to students?
“For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we
learn by doing them.” (Aristotle 384-322 B.C.).
