How long have you been with
Schreiner? Where were you prior?: I have been in my current
position since the end of February 2002. Before accepting the
VPAF position, I served on the Schreiner Board of Trustees for
six years while working in New York City, and before that, I had
served for nine years on the Board while living and working in
the Dallas area. I have personally known every Schreiner
President except for the first one, Jim Delaney. That’s a long
time!
What do you like best about Schreiner University?:
Schreiner University is the same type of place now that it was
when I attended in the 1970’s. You have Williams Woods, we had
Pete Hallman, you have Kathleen Hudson, we had Ford Ainsworth,
you have Diana Comuzzie, we had Harry Crate, your Tim Summerlin
was our Sam Junkin. Faculty and Staff have always made this
place special.
What Schreiner events do you enjoy?: I actually enjoy
having the Board of Trustees on campus. I enjoy the
intercollegiate sports, specially the volleyball team. I think
the Christmas Tea is a very special tradition.
Favorite food: Porter House Steak is my favorite to eat
at home. For special guests, I’ll cook Italian food because
there is not a good Italian restaurant that I have found
anywhere in Texas (try Chicago or anywhere in New York City
outside of Little Italy). When I eat out, it’s grilled salmon.
On the West Coast, I’ll eat sushi.
Favorite book: I read a lot of non-fiction books or
current events and politics.
Favorite vacation spot: Never a beach (except Jamaica). I
love Barcelona, Spain and Vancouver, Canada.
Is there a particular advice you would give to students?:
Take advantage of everything at Schreiner; free events,
one-on-one time with faculty, leadership opportunities;
everything! |
