How long have you been with
Schreiner? I started my job
at Schreiner University in January of 2007. But I have
been involved with Schreiner for
many years. I was a student years ago attending an evening
college program. More recently my daughter and son-in-law
graduated from Schreiner in 2004 and 2005.
Where were you prior? I was in the banking industry for
over 20 years. In 2000 while three of my children were in
college I decided to go back to college and finish my degree.
After five years of night and weekend classes, I graduated in
May of 2006 from St. Edwards University in Austin with a BBA in
Business Management.
What do you like best about Schreiner University? There
is an overwhelming feeling of belonging on the campus. The
students, faculty and staff are like a great big family. The
motto, “Learning by heart” is truly what you feel when you are
here.
What Schreiner events do you enjoy? I love to watch all
the events the different student organizations have throughout
the year. There is always something going on around campus. I
also enjoy going to the cafeteria for lunch. It’s like having a
family meal with a few hundred family members.
Favorite food: Anything seafood, especially Maine
lobster, oysters and mussels.
Favorite books: I love historical novels. Anything about
ancient China or Europe in the middle ages. I also love Memoirs
of a Geisha and the Joy Luck Club.
Favorite vacation spot: Anyplace where there is a beach
and fishing.
What do you like to do during your weekends? My husband
and I have a boat and love to fish so we try to go as often as
we can on the weekends. I also enjoy going to Austin to see some
of my family, BBQ’ing with friends and being outdoors.
Is there any particular advice you would give to students?
To those in High School, there is no good excuse for not getting
a college education and there is always a way to make it happen
if you want to. For those attending college, take the time to
get to know who you are, then what you learn will be more
valuable.
