What do you like best about Schreiner University?
Excellent working conditions, a generous benefit package which includes sick leave, vacation, personal days, numerous holidays off, a competitive health insurance plan, the opportunity to participate in a retirement program (which Schreiner matches up to 6%) and the tuition remission for self and family members. There are so many positives about Schreiner! I like the opportunity of growth and education, either by attending college classes, the
supervisory training sessions and the lectures. We have some of the best professors on campus. Every time I take a new class, I add that professor to my favorite list. Also, I love the
Wellness Program and having 2 hours off during the week to exercise on campus.
What do you like best about your position at Schreiner?
First of all, I have a great Boss-
Fred Gamble! We have a very supportive and professional team in the Administration and Finance Department as well as all around campus! I enjoy interacting with students, staff and faculty. It's all about the people!!
What Schreiner events do you enjoy?
We have so much talent at Schreiner! I enjoy the choir concerts, the
plays, the lectures and
coffee houses. I appreciate the opportunity to participate in the
exercise classes that the
recreation department puts on like yoga/pilates and aerobics.
Favorite food:
Chile rellenos and homemade flour tortillas (I am one of those who still knows how to make them).
Favorite books:
The Purpose Driven Life. Of course, if I want to read a book about mystery, drama, murder, romance or to find a pattern for my life, it is all in the best seller - the Bible!!
Favorite vacation spot:
Hawaii, which is where my husband and I went on our honeymoon. (I think it's time to make a new memory!)
What do you like to do during your weekends?
Go for walks Saturday mornings and Church on Sundays. I like to relax and spend time with my husband and three daughters when they come home. One is a senior at Schreiner and lives on campus. One is at Lackland Air Force Base and one is at Abilene Christian.
When I can get away, I like to go to rummage sales with my mom and sisters, looking for old dishes and other stuff I can not do without.
Is there any particular advice you would give to students?
Keep focused on why you are here (Schreiner)! Think about why you are here (on earth) - to learn God's pattern for you and to have a relationship with Him. Be righteous and love your fellow man. Do your best and make Schreiner proud!
