	Ylanda C. Position: Technical Operations Supervisor - Logan Library Hometown: Have lived in Hill Country most of my life – growing up in Center Point. How long have you been with Schreiner? I’ve worked in the Library for 20 years. Favorite food: Cajun fried shrimp and lemon meringue pie (I never have just one favorite – except for a husband). Favorite books: COOKBOOKS! I buy, collect and browse through them constantly looking for new recipes.
What do you like best about Schreiner University?  I like that the university is small enough to get to know a lot of people in various departments which helps create pleasant working relationships. It’s also been great to be able to watch students grow and share in their accomplishments. What do you like best about your position at Schreiner?  It gives me challenges to sharpen my problem solving skills and allows me the opportunity to introduce people to the resources available in the library. Working in a pleasant environment makes for a good day on the job and having wonderful mentors at your disposal is an added bonus. It’s a daily learning experience! What Schreiner events do you enjoy? I like the CoffeeHouse which showcases talents of students and Dr. (Kathleen) Hudson brings in some wonderful performers. I love any opportunity we have to share Schreiner with the community – I especially like Fright Night activities (I LOVE dressing in costumes and enjoy helping children of all ages have FUN). Note: Ylanda won the award for "Scariest Costume" at the annual SU Staff Costume Contest. Pictured below ...Ylanda, aka "SPIDER WOMAN" a few Halloweens ago... Favorite vacation spot: Florida and especially Disney World (where I can be a kid) and would love to go back to mountains in Colorado for the views and cooler weather. What do you like to do during your weekends? I love digging in the dirt (weeding and planting), taking road trips, and fishing. Is there any particular advice you would give to students? Don’t take anyone or anything for granted. And try to find a balance between serious matters and fun activities – life’s too short not to enjoy the journey.
