Schreiner University is stepping up its game with the addition of eight new varsity programs providing current and future Mountaineer students with more opportunities to compete and succeed.
Students have the opportunity to earn $40,000 in scholarships for being a member of one of the Varsity Programs. ($10,000 for 4 years.)

Schreiner University shooting team, while new to Varsity Programs, is in their eleventh year of competition. Student athletes have competed and won at local, regional, state, national and international shotgun sporting events.
Shooting team members have an incredible opportunity to train and compete at some of the best facilities in the area; Hill Country Shooting Sports Center, Joshua Creek Ranch and the National Shooting Sports Center. Not only one of the oldest, but hands-down one of the toughest sports in the world. There is no better at teaching young people how to win humbly and how to take defeat respectfully and learn from it!

Schreiner University Equestrian Team is a varsity club sport with the goal of allowing students of all skill- levels to better their equitation and horsemanship. We welcome riders of all levels of abilities, whether you’ve never been on a horse in your life or you’re a lifelong equestrian.
Our mission is to be a competitive team on a National level, while at the same time developing a strong sense of camaraderie between team members. The program assists students not only in developing riding skills, but also in developing the sportsmanship, leadership, and organizational skills necessary to be successful professionals. The Schreiner Spirit Program will have two different teams, both coed. The Competitive Cheer Team, and the Spirit Team. Members of both teams will be eligible for the Varsity Program’s Scholarship.
The Schreiner Competitive Cheer Team is a small coed team that will compete at 3-5 competitions a year. We will train both small coed and large coed skill sets and will compete in a variety of styles including UCA, NCA, and Game Day. For those interested in more individual style events, we will also submit videos to compete at Collegiate Group Stunt and Collegiate Partner Stunt.
The Schreiner Spirit Team is geared more to those individuals that want to be involved in more of the game day and sideline cheerleading. Skill development and routine involvement will be possible for members of this program as well but their primary role will be to create a game day environment unlike any school in our division. If you play video games, and think you have what it takes to compete at the next level, then Schreiner eSports is the program for you! We are currently recruiting players for League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Hearthstone, Super Smash, and more.
Our mission is to develop the best gameplay strategies, adaptations, and practices as we establish our presence in the developing world of Collegiate eSports. Communication, teamwork, and fawless execution will be needed to secure National or International Championships, and it all starts with fi nding the right team. Read more about eSports.
University Concert Band is the premiere band ensemble of the University. The concert band presents four concerts each year and performs a variety of standard repertoire as well as newly commissioned work for wind ensemble.
University Pep Band performs at home basketball games and additional spirit events on campus, as well as events out in the community. The pep band is the enthusiastic voice of musical pride that students can rally behind at important Schreiner events.
University Jazz Band gives students a chance to perform a variety of styles, from swing to Latin, funk, and modern fusion compositions while also developing skills in improvisation.
Chamber Ensembles at Schreiner allows students to participate in small ensembles that are coached by various applied instructors such as brass quintet, saxophone quartet, woodwind quintet & brass choir. Read more about University Concert Band.
The Schreiner University Choral Programs are currently comprised of two choirs University Choir and Concert Choir. The choirs perform a wide variety of genres and are under the direction of Michael Kahl. Our Schreiner choirs are open to both music and non-music majors.
Since 2007, the Schreiner Choir program has performed and toured in Italy, Germany, Austria, Ireland, Hungary and Slovakia as well as performed in Carnegie hall. The Schreiner Choirs will be traveling to Germany in 2018 to compete in the Robert Schuman Choir Competition and Festival. Schreiner is launching our Varsity Choral Programs in the Fall of 2018, where we will have varsity ensembles including an A Cappella ensemble. Read more about Choir.
