Texas Arts & Crafts Fair
The Official Texas State Arts & Crafts Fair is one of the top ranked arts and crafts events in the nation. Big tents laced among the trees with a rolling creek running through the center of the fairgrounds create the atmosphere of an old-fashioned fair. Buy a treasure from one of the 200 artisans on site eager to visit with you about their work. more info

Living History Day
Traditional country music festival held in the fall of each year. This one-day event was established in July 1987 to preserve and perpetuate the traditions of Texas music, to examine the background of Texas heritage. Celebrate using stories & songs, see chuck wagons and teepees, Texas Ranger camp, Indians, vaqueros, trick roping, armadillo lore and more! Louise Hays Park off Thompson Drive. Kerrville Folk Festival

The Kerrville Folk Festival is held annually at the Quiet Valley Ranch, 9 miles south of Kerrville on Texas Hwy 16. Starting on the Thursday before Memorial Day at the end of May, the music continues for 18 days with performances by more than 100 singer songwriters and their bands. more info

Kerrville Wine & Music Festival
Labor Day Weekend. A four-day condensed version of the internationally famous 18-day Folk Festival. Original songwriters and entertainers from all over the nation perform. Guadalupe River Activities
The scenic Guadalupe River provides opportunities for all types of water sports including boating, fishing, kayaking, and canoeing. For rental rates and information call 1-830-459-2122.

Horseback Riding
Guided horseback riding is available in Bandera, Texas, a 30-minute drive from campus.

Hunting & Photo Safaris
Famous for its deer hunting, the Hill Country also has many exotic game ranches open for hunting and photo safaris. Located 45 minutes west of campus, discover the legendary YO Ranch. A true Texas working ranch since 1880, the YO is home to North America's largest collection of over 50 different species of exotic wild animals. Visit www.yoranch.com for more information.

Hiking
Kerrville has an outstanding state and national park situated next to the Guadalupe River. Deer and wild turkey roam free in the park and it is a great walking spot for the whole family.

Avid hikers head for Enchanted Rock located 35 minutes from campus. A huge pink granite dome, situated in a State Park Natural area north of Fredericksburg, Enchanted Rock rises 425 feet above ground and covers 640 acres. Birding
The Texas Hill Country is a bird watcher's paradise for both the number of species and the rare birds sighted here. Kerr and Real counties are the best areas to see all four of these rare and endangered species: Golden-cheeked Warbler, Black-capped Vireo. Green Kingfisher and Zone-tailed Hawk.
